Golden Globe Nominations 2011 Revealed; Betting Odds Released

The Golden Globe nominations for 2011 have been released today, and already sports books have started to offer odds to gamblers on the potential winners. Online sports books have created odds for all of the top categories for the 2011 version of the Golden Globe awards.

Of the top motion pictures nominated, The Social Network has come out as the early favorite in the Best Motion Picture category. The Social Network has odds of 4/5 to win the top award of the evening at the Golden Globe’s. The King’s Speech is the second choice at 15/8. Inception is third at 7/1, and a pair of movies, Black Swan and The Fighter, are long shots at 10/1.

Natalie Portman is the betting favorite to win the Best Performance by an Actress category. Portman has odds of 4/9, a heavy favorite, for her role in Black Swan. Jennifer Lawrence is a 7/2 choice for he part in Winter’s Bone. Michelle Williams is at 6/1, with Nicole Kidman, a regular at these events, at 8/1 for Rabbit Hole. Halle Berry has the longest odds of 12/1 for Frankie and Alice.

The King’s Speech gains another nomination for Best Performance by an Actor. Colin Firth is the top choice, with odds of 2/5. James Franco is second with 9/2 odds for 127 Hours, and Jesse Eisenberg is third at 11/2 for The Social Network. Ryan Gosling and Mark Wahlberg are both 12/1 to win the award for their roles in Blue Valentine and The Fighter, respectively.

The Best Supporting Actress odds are a little tighter than the others in the early betting odds. Helena Bonham Carter is the first choice at 2/1, with Mila Kunis second at 5/2. Amy Adams has odds of 7/2, and Jacki Weaver sneaks in at 4/1 for Animal Kingdom. Melissa Leo is the long shot at 9/2.

Christian Bale is the favorite in the Best Supporting Actor category with 1/2 odds. This means gamblers would have to bet double the money they would want to win to choose Bale. Geoffrey Rush is the second choice at 3/1. Michael Douglas gets the feel-good nomination for his role in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. Douglas is an 8/1 pick to win Best Supporting Actor.

Gamblers will now have several weeks to watch these movies and make up their minds on who to support. The Golden Globe’s will air on Sunday, January 2nd.
